Classic American Muscle Car

One of the crown jewels of my collection is this absolutley incredible 1964 GTO Tri Power Hardtop.

What is so special about this car you ask? It's simple. This is an UNRESTORED, 2-owner, 20,000 ORIGINAL mile time capsule car that is as fresh as the day it was new. "BS" you say? Allow me to offer the following facts:

This GTO has never been wet. Not once. It has never been tuned up and has its original spark plug wires, radiator hoses, fan belt, battery cables, etc - you name it, and it is original. The sole replacements under the hood are the battery and oil filter. Oh, and the air filters as the originals were crumbling. No painting, no cleaning, no touch ups or "fluffing". The original ink stamps are clear as can be on the right cylinder head, the radiator top tank, etc. With its optional Transistorized Ignition throwing the spark, this GTO still runs like brand new.

The body is 100% original paint that shines like new. Interior is also 100% - never saw an ounce of upholstrey cleaner or carpet shampoo. Virtually no wear is present anywhere, not on the steering wheel, pedal pads, Hurst shift knob - anywhere. All like brand new.

Take a peek underneath and all you see is shiny blue floors and the most perfect original undercarriage you have ever witnessed. Every chalk mark and paint dab is in place, stripes on the driveshaft, you name it. Even the original paper stickers are on the original spiral shocks!

A special ordered car, it is equipped with some very impressive stuff. TI Ignition, M21 Close Ratio trans, 3.90 Posi, tach and gauges, NO undercoating, Custom Sport wood wheel, HD Metallic brakes, Quick Ratio steering, and more - all documented on the ORIGINAL window sticker and scores of original paperwork. The factory build sheet lists special instructions and the notation "Body in Asile" - a note only used on cars with special handling such as show cars or magazine road test cars. Clearly somebody had a "friend" at GM!

Regarded as the first true muscle car, is there a more significant one than a 1964 GTO Tri Power? Sure, there are a lot more rare or a lot faster muscle cars, and certainly a lot far more valuable, but really - is there a car that more people identify with or more special than "the original?" So here it is, a time-warp example of the first muscle car anybody ever saw. Slide behind the wheel, breathe in that factory fresh smell of thick Morokide vinyl that only Pontiac had, twist the key, click the Hurst stick into first gear and ease out the clutch and you'll swear it is 1964 all over again. Until a Toyota Prius cuts you off on the road, that is...
