With the ink in many copies of my new book "The Complete Book of Shelby Automobiles" still wet it is so fresh, I am thrilled to report the early media reviews have been overwhelmingly positive!

Here are a excerpts from a few:

"If your Shelby Cobra needs some work, or a complete restoration, there's a pretty good chance that one of the first people you call is Colin Comer.Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Colin's Classic Automobiles is one of the nation's most respected restoration shops, and not just for Shelbys. Comer's work is, well, the best. And he writes what he knows. Previously, he authored Million-Dollar Muscle Cars. When Motorbooks sought someone to compile a book that would live up to the title of the "complete" book Carroll Shelby's cars, it again turned to Comer. The resulting publication does what it says, presenting the full array of Shelby cars, and not just Cobras, Mustangs and Super Snakes. Also included are all of the cars on which Shelby has had a direct influence, including the various sports racers, the one-off Shelby Lone Star, the Sunbeam Tiger, the Toyota 2000GT that Shelby prepped for SCCA racing, the Ford GT40 and the just plane (at least in name) Ford GT, the Dodge Viper, the Dodge Omni GLH (which got its name from Shelby's statement that the car would "go like hell") and many more. Comer's words are well written, and clearly heartfelt."Shelby, both the man and the machine, is something larger than life," Comer writes. "The tale of the man and the cars transcend traditional boundaries. It doesn't matter if you are a Chevy person or a European car enthusiast, a drag racer or a road racer, into NASCAR or sports cars, even if you're just not really a car person at all, there is something about Shelby that appeals to us all. It is an American success story... the underdog who beat all the odds to come out on top." Not only are the words worth the book's $45 cover price, but there are luscious photographs, some vintage black and white, some contemporary color, by David Newhardt and others, but especially by Newhardt, who's as skilled with his lenses as Comer is with his wrenches and writing." -Larry Edsall, iZoom.com

"When you see a book described as being complete, your eyebrow automatically goes up. This is especially true when that adjective is describing a book on Shelby cars. There are so many examples, permutations and exceptions swirling around in the Cobra/Shelby universe that its almost a slam-dunk to imagine that something was overlooked. This is clearly not the case with Colin Comers latest book. He tells the story and he gets it just right; he doesnt gloss over the important stuff and its not a puff piece or an homage to Carroll Shelby. The glossy pages of this book have a very high quality feel to them. The reproduction of the photos are second to none and the color values are perfect. You will not be disappointed with this book!" The Shelby American, official magazine of the Shelby American Automobile Club

"For any aspiring or seasoned automotive historian interested in writing about the car of Carroll Shelby, put down your pens, walk away from the typewriter or shut down you computer, Colin Comers new work, Shelby-The Complete Book of Shelby Automobiles has left no stone unturned. The text and photos are great, attention to detail fabulous, quality of the actual book, copy, layout, binding, etc., top-shelf all the way. One thing I really like is that while Comer includes later model offerings from Shelby, he doesnt dwell on them and make the book an advertisement for them. He treats them the same way he did the earlier legendary vehicles. An outstanding book on the subject." -Phil Skinner, Old Cars Weekly

"Say the name Carroll Shelby among a group of car guys and the response you'll get will be as varied as the day is long. There are the worshipers, the haters, the historians, and those who don't really care either way. Colin Comer's The Complete Book of Shelby Automobiles covers all the bases, and we mean all of them. Even the guy who "knows" about Shelby cars will be educated by reading this book. As an example, we pride ourselves on knowning a fair amount about racing history, and by proxy of that, knowing stuff about Shelby and his creations. We were floored to learn that the company produced eight drag race competition versions of the GT350 which ran in the 12s and held some records for a time in the mid '60s. The book covers all eras of Shelby creations including Carroll's brief involvment with Toyotas, his Mopar period, and the botched launch and ultimate failure of the Series One supercars. As you'd expect, not a lot of time is spent on the failures in Shelby's career and some of the cars, particularly of the Mopar era, are given more accolades than we'd be comfortable bestowing on them, but overall this is a fair picture and not a complete fan-boy account of the man's career and of the vehicles that bore his name. There are awesome photos and stories that revolve around the GT40 program and Shelby's involvement in it as well as some neat insider stuff from the rolicking days of the 1960s when the money started rolling in from Ford and the guys in the Shelby shop were living the life of Riley, traveling the world, kicking asses, and generally living like rock stars. No matter what you think of Carroll Shelby, his story is uniquely American and pretty inspiring. He's a marketer par excellence and has played to his strengths through his long career with cars. This book educated us, awed us with photos, and earned our respect with an balanced look at the long and storied history of the vaunted Shelby name." -Brian Lohnes, BangShift.com
